FO8

 My figures lesson with Danette on the Chandler adult skate. We'd rescheduled from Monday due to my flight home from Jo Williams Memorial Cup (Spokane) being very delayed late Sunday.  I was running late, and I'd forgotten to replace the pen in my scribe, so I got a brief warmup of forward edges.

Today's lesson:

• FO8 -- we spent our lesson on this.  Pretty much same old, same old -- Still trying to fix my posture and get a better push.  A bit frustrating.

 My figures lesson with Danette on the Chandler adult skate. Nice ice, 8 skaters.  I tried to scribe circles but my scribe marker dried up and wouldn't write (looks like the cap came off in the car).  I didn't really get a warmup from messing around with that.

Today's lesson:

• F edges -- we ran the FO a couple of times, focusing on posture.  The left is generally better  than the right.  The FI were not bad.
• B edges-- Okay.  We ran BO and BI several times to improve the initial push, stand up straighter, and to keep the free foot in front and then 'hinge' it back.

Today's lesson:

• FO8 -- we started by just working a long FO edge without worrying about the push, to try to work on posture.  Just some pushes followed by a long glide on the circle.  LFO was okay, but trying to stand fully straight up without bending forward on the RFO was tough.  Also I was tending to lean out of the circle, which made me go flat and skid.  Yuck.  Then we worked just the regular FO8 and it was a bit better.
• B edges -- from there we went back to the line and did BO and BI edges.  They were not bad, actually.

Today's lesson:

• BO8 -- eep.  We worked a bit on posture (of course) and also trying to keep the free foot close and not just be in 'landing position'.  It's not clear to me which is cause and which is effect --- am I leaning forward because my free foot is out, or is my free foot out because I'm leaning forward?  I tend to think it's the latter.
• BI8 -- again, posture issues.  Danette pushed me around a bit (my backwards scooter-push is awkward) and when she's holding my hand I can stand up nicely.  Geez.
