Edges, F8s, Again

My figures lesson with Danette on the adult freestyle at Chandler.  Beautiful ice and just 3 skaters.  I was running late, so I just scribed some circles but didn't have time for warmup.  Off the ice for two weeks and also I got my blades sharpened this weekend.

Today's lesson:

  • edges -- no warmup, so a bit rough.  Edges felt more secure (yay) but posture still needs a lot of work; mostly on FO.
  • FO8 -- not getting around the circle, and still need to improve posture (it did improve though).
  • FI8 -- not too bad, but still need a stronger push and better posture.
I really need more practice time!

Edges, F8s

My figures lesson with Danette on the Chandler adult skate.  Just 4 skaters! Ice was... inconsistent.  Most of it was really nice, but on one of the blue lines there were lots of raised patches like it had melted or something.  Eeep.

I warmed up with F edges.  I didn't have my scribe today.

Today's lesson:

  • Edges -- mostly okay. I managed to improve my posture during my warmup :-) so it was better.  Had some issues keeping the free shoulder back on BO but BI was pretty good.
  • FO8 -- I only made it around on the last set, but they improved a lot.
  • FI8 -- Not bad.  I made it around the whole time, yay!

Edges, BI8

My figures lesson with Danette on the Chandler adult freestyle.  Nice ice, but about 10 skaters.  I didn't bring my scribe.

Today's lesson:

  • edges -- meh.  We spent some time working on BI edges and getting a better push.  Eep.
  • BI8 -- It's been a while.  Circles were small and I still didn't get all the way around, but it was good to work on them.  I have really issues standing straight up (there's that posture thing again) on the subsequent pushes. Danette reminded me that I need to actually Turn My Head to Look Where I'm Going.  Eeep.
