Edges

 My figures lesson with Danette on the 12:30 FS at Chandler.  We were on the west rink, which for whatever reason I don't like.  Okay ice, about 5 skaters.

Today lesson:

• Edges -- just edges.  We spent some extra time on FO as I'm still having issues with my LFO edge as I was fishtailing and/or skidding a bit.  I think it's due to the nick in my L blade that I never got fixed.  I'll try to do that on Friday.  FI were mostly okay.  BO are still lacking a bit of control, esp. on L side and trying to keep the free foot in front longer.  BI... I hadn't really realized that I'm not at all keeping my free foot close on these either, so I need to fix that as well.

All in all a bit frustrating as I've really lost ground on these. Hopefully now that I'm done with school I can start to get back to where I used to be.

Today's lesson was just edges, all edges:

• edges -- still trying to get these back in some kind of shape after too much time off.  Still having issues with FO, especially LFO. FI not too bad.  BO are not bad, but BI still need to have a better push and no widestep at the start.  Eeep.

Moves, Again

My lesson with Holly on the adult session at CCIC. Ice was a little rough.  Just 2 skaters.

Today's lesson:

• circle-8 -- pretty good!
• 5-step mohawk --a little improved from last week.  I really need to push into the ice more, and take my time.
• power-3s -- about the same
• BXOs to BO edges -- okay.  I still feel like I'm really slow.  The pattern is good, though.

Today's lesson:

• 5-step mohawk -- we started with these since they've been getting short shrift lately.  The RFI mohawk is actually not too bad, but the left one is still pretty rough.  Beyond that, about the same -- need to settle into the BO edge more and not rush.  
• perimeter XOs -- okay
• power-3s -- I thought I would escape doing these but nope!  They are about the same.  I need to just work on them a lot more to have some kind of control, both for a longer entrance edge and also for a better BXO - step forward.  Ugh.  Holly pointed out I need to be sure to step perpendicular to the long axis on the step forward so I have better lobes.  Eeep.
• circle-8 -- really good, actually.

Today's lesson

• edges -- I had no skated in a couple of weeks and it showed.  Eeep.  We spent most of the lesson on these and finally got them okay -- not great, but okay.
• FO8  -- just 5 minutes or so on these.  I am not making it around the circle.  Yuck.
